Stay On Top Of How To Raise A Claim For Car Insurance With This Guide

A car insurance policy is required under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. As a result, every vehicle on Indian roads must be properly insured. This coverage is useful in the event of a vehicle accident. In case of an accident or car damage, a claim is filed under the car insurance policy.

If you are still uninsured or looking for a better policy or service, research the various Bajaj Allianz car insurance policies and compare car insurance prices to see which ones suit your needs.

How do you make a claim?

Assume your car is involved in an accident or stolen. In that case, you must follow a specific procedure to file a car insurance claim. Follow the below mentioned steps to understand how to claim car insurance: –

In the event of a collision:

  • If you are involved in an accident, contact your insurance company immediately at the toll-free number listed on your policy. Mention the details of the accident and the policy number to the insurance company’s call centre.
  • Once notified of the accident, you must transport your vehicle to the nearest network garage of the insurance company for cashless claim settlement. The call centre team will provide you with network garage information. If you need to file a reimbursement claim, you can take your vehicle to any nearby workshop as per your convenience.
  • A police report may be required if a third party is injured or the accident is severe. Even in the case of a goods-carrying vehicle, a police FIR may be necessary.
  • An insurance surveyor will visit the garage to assess the loss and provide approval to begin the repair work.
  • You must complete the claim form and submit it to the workshop along with a copy of the policy. The RC, the driving licence of the driver driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, and a copy of all other vehicle documents should be kept handy.
  • Third-party car insurance claims, if any, are settled by the insurance company based on the decisions of the Motor Accidents T Please keep in mind that third-party car insurance is required.
  • The insurance company pays the workshop’s bills once the repairs are completed. You may have to pay a small portion of the claim out of your own pocket. You can pick up your car once all fees have been paid.

* Standard T&C Apply

In the event of theft:

  • An FIR should be filed immediately.
  • A claim is then submitted to the insurance company. You must submit the RC book, a copy of the FIR, your driving licence, the RTO notification, and the policy document.
  • After three months, the insurance company may settle the claim once the police issue a ‘non-traceable’ report.
  • You must transfer the car’s RC book into the insurance company’s name, along with a letter of subrogation transferring all rights to the insurance company.

* Standard T&C Apply

Once you have followed the car insurance claim process mentioned, you may have to wait for the claim to get approved. Make sure you always fill in true details whenever you submit a claim request, or it may get rejected.

Filing a claim with a Bajaj Allianz car insurance policy is much easier, convenient, and hassle-free, in our experience.

Insurance is the subject matter of solicitation. For more details on benefits, exclusions, limitations, terms, and conditions, please read the sales brochure/policy wording carefully before concluding a sale.
