The Swedish supercar maker, Koenigsegg, is looking to launch a 700bhp V8-engined four-door saloon by 2011. A prototype version of the car is expected at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010.

The new car has been in development for the past two years. Koenigsegg currently has a clay model of the car, but needs outside investment to continue with the project. The Gulf is currently seeking investments, where the firm has found many fans.

The engine will not be the same as found within the CCX, but will be a V8 with 700bhp. The new machine is to be built entirely out of carbon fiber. …click here to read more

Alfa Romeo is planning a successor to the 166 with a new large sedan that will be based on a rear-wheel-drive architecture. The new large sedan will become the flagship model of the Alfa Romeo lineup and will follow the naming model policy instead of numbering models.

Now that Fiat has a pretty strong relationship with Tata Motors, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne is thinking of use he Jaguar XF chassis for the new Alfa sedan. Of course design language will follow the theme of the new 8C Competizione.

German tuner Arden has taken Jaguar’s latest XF sedan to a whole new level. Arden calls their version of the XF the “Arden AJ21” and comes complete with a modified engine, extensive aerodynamic modifications and a revised interior.

The AJ21 receives a completely new front-end fascia with an enlarged grill finished in stainless steel mesh as well as larger air vents for cooling of the engine and braking system. Other features include LED daytime running lights located in the front bumper. Stockmarket jitters, luxury car tax increases and community concerns about global warming have yet to dent luxury car buyers’ enthusiasm for bigger, more powerful V8 engines, according to Maserati.

The Italian car maker has just released a more powerful - and thirstier - version of its Quattroporte sedan and is banking on the new model to offset an expected slump in demand for luxury vehicles.

Maserati is yet to feel any ill effects from the growing global economic pessimism, selling the same amount of cars in Australia in the first six months of this year as it did in the whole of 2007. …click here to read more
