Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 204,361 Nissan and Infiniti cars and sport utility vehicles in the US to repair an electrical flaw that may prevent the front-passenger air bag from deploying.

The voluntary recall affects 2007 and 2008 model-year Nissan Altima, 350Z and Infiniti G35 and G37 cars, and Nissan Murano, Rogue and Infiniti EX35 SUVs, according to a letter posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. …click here to read more

Mercedes-Benz has recalled 102,954 sport utility vehicles because of a defect that could cause a loss of power steering. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Mercedes M-Class SUVs from model years 1998 to 2003 are affected by this recall.

The problem is with a clamp used to secure a cooling hose for power-steering systems on the vehicles, which may be too weak and not able to hold it properly. An earlier recall did not sufficiently fix the problem.

Please contact your local Mercedes Benz dealer for details.

Nissan has issued a recall for more than 3,400 MY’09 Altima vehicles equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, some of the alloy wheels may not have been manufactured to the correct specification, something that could lead to one or more of the five lug nuts attaching the wheel to the vehicle to become loose.

Nissan dealers will inspect the vehicles and if necessary, replace the faulty alloy wheels new ones. Owners can contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261 for more information on the recall.

In response to a National Highway Safety Administration finding, BMW is recalling approximately 200,000 2004-06 vehicles because a malfunction with a deactivation system caused passenger airbags to not deploy in a crash.

NHTSA said that small cracks could develop in a seat weight detection mat installed in the front passenger seat in 2006 3-Series, 2004-06 5-Series and 2004-06 X3 vehicles. The malfunction would also turn on the “airbag off” light on the affected vehicles, according to NHTSA.
