Chrysler’s Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) began rolling off the assembly line this week at its Newark (Delaware) Assembly Plant. Chrysler is offering the two-mode hybrid powertrain on both vehicles built at the plant, Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen.

Call it a bailout or call it an aid package, the car industry is only concerned with securing the funds it believes it needs to survive the next three years. The companies are joining together with the UAW and other political allies to ramp up a lobbying frenzy before the Congress goes into recess in September.
