BMW M3 GTS

There are some great dreams. But they’re just dreams – so you think. You’ve dreamt them so many times before. You wake up and say goodbye to them almost as if nothing had happened.

BMW M enthusiasts all over the world have a dream like this: a BMW M, consistently optimised for the race track. Pure M genes. A brilliant partner at the physical limits – away from public roads. Fast and honest. But registered for the best public roads, too. It’s not where you go, but how you get there. Whether a demanding run on the race track or a pleasurable cruise along country roads and motorways. …click here to read more

The Mouse Pad features a solid polished carbon fibre with inlaid leather mouse area, italian black suede backing, and more importantly it’s embossed in carbon with the F1 Formula 1 logo that has been carbon cured to 120º C at 100 psi. …click here to read more

The Lotus Elise weighs just 1896 lbs. That is a very light car and Toyota’s 1.8-liter engine takes it 0-60 under 5 seconds. If you want to get the Elise faster you can either upgrade the engine and go with a fixed roof. You can also improve Elise’s power to weight ratio by making the car even more lighter with use of materials such as Carbon Fiber. …click here to read more

Manufacturers raise the price of Carbon Fiber

Toray Industries Inc. (the #1 supplier of carbon fiber) and Mitsubishi Rayon Co. (the third largest) marks the first time both companies have universally raised their prices at the same time. The development would border on price-fixing if not for the fact that the second biggest carbon fiber manufacturer, Teijin Ltd., didn’t participate. However Teijin is expected to announce its own price hike sometime this week, as well.

We all expected prices to drop as use of the exotic material became more commonplace in automotive, aerospace and commercial applications. However the rising costs of raw materials have contributed to the higher price.

As for the impact on he automotive industry, it could mean price increases for cars using the material, while the development of new cars is likely to forgo employing carbon fiber in their construction for other materials like aluminum and plastic.
