Episode six of the Corvette Racing Track to Street series is a recap of what went down at the 24 Hours of Le Mans last month. 2010 marked the 50th anniversary or the automakers first appearance at the French endurance race and a parade of 50 ‘Vettes took to the track prior to the race.

The first French appearance of the works Corvettes in the GT2 class started off well, with the cars starting first and second in class after the Risi Ferrari F430 time was disallowed due to a rear wing infraction.

The Corvettes ran strong for the first 16 hours before both eventually succumbed to engine failures. Team manager Doug Fehan promises the C6.Rs will return next year with a win. …click here to read more

Lamborghini has announced its intentions to build lighter cars, and that means more carbon fiber and carbon composites. The stampeding bull is already deep into the stuff, with the Murcielago replacement swapping out the Murci’s steel frame for one of carbon fiber, and the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera winning The Biggest Loser due to its CF parts.

Getting ready for the long term and knowing it will need to do more than merely hang carbon parts on its wares, Lamborghini has opened an Advanced Composites Research Center in Sant’ Agata Bolognese. The 30-strong workforce will develop new processes for designing, shaping and producing parts for the “extremely complex carbon-fiber structures” we hope to see on Lamborghinis of the future. …click here to read more

Watch as a 638 horsepower 6.2L super-charged LS9 engine is hand built from start to finish at the GM Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan. The LS9 is made for the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and the most powerful engine General Motors builds.

With the new Corvette Engine Build Experience, customers of the Corvette ZR1 or Z06 choose an option to come to Wixom and, under supervision of skilled professional engine builders, actually build the very LS7 or LS9 Engine that will later be installed their own Corvette. …click here to read more

This 2005 Ford GT was one of the first ever cars to be successfully twin turbocharged, producing over 1000 whp on a completely OEM, stock & original engine & fuel system.

Watch as a team of collaborators design, fabricate, assemble and tune one of the fastest, most reliable street cars with virtually no “Modded Ford GT” history available to them. We even see some of the crew from Titan Motorsports stunned at how well built this car is. …click here to read more
