The newly revised 2011 BMW 5 Series will officially debut for the North American public at the New York Auto Show next week, and it will officially go on sale in June of this year, priced from $50,475 for the 535i and $60,575 for the 550i.

The first thing we noticed about the 2011 edition was the base prices for both models are actually less than the current cars. However, in true business-class luxury form, it’s the options list that’ll get you. Naturally, you’ll want to shell out $2,200 for the Sport Package, and we’d recommend adding $2,700 for the Dynamic Handling Package, as well. Other add-ons include the usual Premium ($1,800, 535i only) or Premium 2 ($4,900/$2,800, 535i/550i) packages, Nappa leather ($2,450/$1,000), rear-seat entertainment ($2,200), integral active steering ($1,750), active cruise control ($2,400) and night vision with pedestrian detection ($2,600).

Even with the exhaustive options list, the 5 Series is competitively priced against its key competitors – the Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Lexus is trying to control the inflation that comes with launching a new exotic car, especially ones that are limited-production models. Exotic car speculators often drive up the price and usually end up destroying the marketplace. Lexus plans to only offer a two-year lease of the new supercar at a fixed price that has yet to be announced.

At the end of the term, leaseholders will have the opportunity to purchase the car outright, at that time the title would be released to the purchaser. As Lexus’ vice president of sales and dealer development Brian Smith tells it, his company wants “people out driving the car and not just parking it in a museum or selling it at an inflated price.”

Lexus will also train 15 LFA specialists that will be located at the company’s four regional outposts, and the automaker will also pay for dealers to receive the special tools and training that will service the vehicles. …click here to read more

Today Cadillac has finally unveiled its new 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe. The new Coupe will join the Sedan and the Sport Wagon models that will arrive on dealership floors in the spring of 2010. Virtually unchanged from the concept car that made its debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show.

The 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe is powered by 3.6L direct-injected V6 engine making 304-hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The CTS Coupe will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission or a Hydra-Matic 6L50 6-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control. …click here to read more

It seems as though the Lexus LFA has been around for years. The concept model was introduced at the Detroit Auto Show in 2005, which is considered a long time in the automotive world. Toyota teased us with updated revisions of the LFA in 2007 and 2008, along with the swirling rumors that production was on and then off again. After all of the hype and the years of teases & rumors the production version was finally revealed to the world at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. Jaguar UK has launched a high performance Police pursuit vehicle based on its award-winning XF Diesel S model. The first ever Police-spec XF is currently being evaluated by Police forces across the country. Geoff Cousins, UK Managing Director for Jaguar Cars, said: “Police forces are looking for vehicles that represent value for money, have good environmental credentials and deliver the power and performance required of a pursuit vehicle.”

The Jaguar XF beats other contenders in this market with a fuel economy figure of 42mpg, class-leading residual values and an excellent CO2 rating of 179g/km. “The Police Officers driving pursuit vehicles demand a very high level of performance and handling, as well as safety and comfort.”

The Police specification Jaguar features the 275HP 3.0-liter Diesel S engine with its unique, parallel sequential turbocharger system. Delivering high torque throughout the entire rev range, improved throttle response and low CO2 emissions, the twin-turbochargers work sequentially to deliver unrivalled response and best-in-class torque that means the XF packs a huge punch at all engine speeds.

“We hope that with this amount of torque on tap – and a 0-60mph time of 5.9 seconds, we will meet and exceed the exacting standards of any Police Officer driving this car.”
