Formula One legend Michael Schumacher announced today that he will not be returning to the sport to replace the injured Felipe Massa in Valencia as hoped due to his ongoing neck injury.

“Yesterday evening, I had to inform Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo and Team Principal Stefano Domenicali that unfortunately I’m not able to step in for Felipe,” Schumacher stated on his personal website. “I really tried everything to make that temporary comeback possible, however, much to my regret it didn’t work out.

“Unfortunately we did not manage to get a grip on the pain in the neck which occurred after the private F1-day in Mugello, even if medically or therapeutically we tried everything possible.” …click here to read more

599xx-front

While based on the 599 GTB Fiorano with the same transaxle layout and engine type, this prototype is an extreme track car. Ferrari’s engineers have carried out extensive work on the engine’s combustion chambers and inlet and exhaust tracts. These modifications, combined with the fact that internal attrition has been reduced and the maximum revs have been boosted to 9,000 rpm, helped achieve the target power output of 700 hp at 9,000 rpm. Particular attention was also paid to cutting the weight of the engine unit components. This was achieved both by optimising forms – as in the new crankshaft – and adopting exclusive materials, as in the carbon-fibre used for the intake plenums. A new gearbox shift strategy cuts overall gearchange times to 60 ms. …click here to read more

1000th-ferrari-in-hong-kong

A special ceremony to mark the 1,000th Ferrari delivered in Hong Kong took place in Victoria Harbour yesterday. Over 65 international media from Hong Kong, Macau and the adjacent markets participated in this significant milestone for Ferrari in the Asia-Pacific region. From the first Ferrari delivered to a Hong Kong customer in the early 1960’s, now, some 45 years later, this 1,000th car is a new 612 Scaglietti ‘One-To-One’, the flagship of the current Ferrari range which was specially commissioned by the owner last year.

The handover ceremony took place in a truly unique way. Believed to be a ‘first’ for any automotive company in Hong Kong, the car was presented to the Hong Kong owner, Mr Didier Li, on board ‘Huan’, a Chinese Junk, in Victoria Harbour during the late afternoon. ‘Huan’ is a fitting symbol of Hong Kong’s history and the backdrop of Hong Kong Island’s modern skyline providing a truly spectacular and exclusive ceremony for the handover of the 1000th Prancing Horse car in one of the most mature markets in the Asia Pacific Region. …click here to read more
