National Geographic approached Nissan to see if it could follow the development of a vehicle from conception to production for its “Inside” series.

Nissan’s response, “We’ve got something for you. It’s called the GT-R.”

National Geographic’s film crew was given unprecedented access to Nissan’s design, engineering and manufacturing facilities, along with spending time at the test track and with Nissan/Renault’s rock-star CEO and Manga-hero, Carlos Ghosn. …click here to read more

Porsche’s current generation of the 911 has been around for almost four years and is currently in the process of a mid-cycle update. We’ve already heard reports of the facelifted Carrera and Carrera S as well as the AWD 4 and 4S models, but still in the works are the more extreme Turbo, GT3 and GT2, and the track-honed GT3 RS.

Power levels should receive a slight boost over the 405hp output from a new direct-injection system. In line with the changes in the facelifted Carrera range, the engine in the updated GT3 RS will also sport higher flowing heads, a redesigned crankshaft and an upgraded oil and water pump. …click here to read more

Nissan Recalls 204,361 Vehicles For Air Bag Issues

Nissan Motor Co. is recalling 204,361 Nissan and Infiniti cars and sport utility vehicles in the US to repair an electrical flaw that may prevent the front-passenger air bag from deploying.

The voluntary recall affects 2007 and 2008 model-year Nissan Altima, 350Z and Infiniti G35 and G37 cars, and Nissan Murano, Rogue and Infiniti EX35 SUVs, according to a letter posted on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. …click here to read more

Mazda Hydrogen Rotary on the Road in Norway

Mazda Motor Corporation today introduced the Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE (Rotary Engine) vehicle to Norway’s public roads in collaboration with the Norwegian national hydrogen project, HyNor.

Initially, the RX-8 Hydrogen RE’s driving performance on Norwegian roads will be validated with a single vehicle, which will also be shown at various events. This marks the first time that a Mazda hydrogen rotary vehicle has been put into regular use on public roads outside Japan. …click here to read more

Hyundai Genesis Coupe Performance Specs

Hyundai launched its Genesis Coupe in the Korean market this week with performance specs finally divulged. The first engine is Hyundai’s Theta 2.0-liter turbo which produces in Korea 223 horsepower on premium fuel and 210 horsepower (regular fuel). For the U.S. market it is rated at 210hp @ 6000rpm while peak torque is 299 Nm (220 lb-ft) @ 2,000rpm (302 Nm / 223 lb-ft for the U.S. market) propelling the rear-wheel-drive car from 0-100km/h (62mph) in just 8.3 seconds. …click here to read more
