A couple of McLaren Formula 1 fans have helped to inspire one of the most incredible remote control cars ever: a full-scale, fully functional remote control F1 car. And it’s piloted remotely by Lewis Hamilton via a Blackberry Storm.
Two bored office buddies were set on passing the time while having to work on the weekend by constructing a ‘Office GP’ race track for a remote control scale model. To make things int really interesting, the bored duo modded the RC car with a Bluetooth unit so they could control it with a Blackberry Storm.
After publishing the weekend shenanigans on YouTube, some McLaren engineers spotted it and were so impressed, they flew the pair out to show them what they’d bring working on in their spare time: a life-size version of the two men’s office hobby car, and then they let it loose on a test track in Portugal with Lewis Hamilton at the controls. Watch, and be amazed.
